Activists Offer Model for Temporary Housing of Homeless

FEATURING PETER MIRON CONK – A group of activists with the San Jose Catholic Worker recently decided to convert an abandoned lot into a housing encampment for homeless people. Using large tents with toilets, showers, a community area, and a fence for safety, the activists say it is a promising transitional solution to rampant homelessness.

But city authorities seem to not agree. “Hope Village,” as it is called, has received an eviction notice.
