FEATURING SONYA LUNDER – The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), after years of pressure from environmental and health groups, has finally issued a ban on the active ingredient in anti-bacterial soaps. Triclosan has been found in many studies to be no more effective at stopping the spread of infection than plain soap. Worse, it is known to be an endocrine disruptor, impacting people’s hormonal systems. It is also linked to cancer and other diseases.
Groups like the Environmental Working Group are hailing the decision as “a huge victory on behalf of human health and the environment.”
