FEATURING MUMIA ABU-JAMAL - Nichelle Nichols, the pioneering Black actress who broke boundaries on screen with her role as Lt. Nyota Uhura on Star Trek, passed away on July 30th of this year. She was 89. The actress was active both in front of the camera and behind the scenes, paving the way for people of color not only to access Hollywood roles, but also for Black and Brown people to enter science fields.
