Hurricane Harvey Threatens Nuclear Reactor Safety

FEATURING PAUL GUNTER – As the impact of Hurricane Harvey continues to threaten public safety in Houston and the surrounding areas in Texas, groups are calling attention to two nuclear reactors in Bay City which are continuing to be fully operational.

The group Beyond Nuclear is calling on the South Texas Project to be immediately shut down. If the flood waters breach the embankment surrounding the 7,000 acre cooling water reservoir around the reactors there is a serious threat of an accident, the likes of which could threaten public safety on an ever greater scale.
