Implications of Uber CEO’s Resignation

FEATURING STEVEN HILL – The massive ride-sharing tech firm Uber is back in the news – this time over the resignation of its CEO Travis Kalanick, the aggressive Silicon Valley technocrat who had built up the highly-valued company since 2008.

Kalanick had recently taken a leave of absence from his position, which the company’s shareholders reportedly forced him to make permanent. Kalanick has attracted much controversy from his company’s mistreatment of drivers, to allegations of sexual harrassment within Uber’s workplace, to his decision earlier this year to join Donald Trump’s economic advisory council and even a videotaped interaction with an Uber driver.

What does Kalanick’s resignation mean for both Uber and what are its implications for the US economy?
