In a Day’s Work: The Fight To End Sexual Violence Against America’s Most Vulnerable Workers

FEATURING BERNICE YEUNG – Long before the #MeToo movement exploded into international consciousness last summer and the revelations of Harvey Weinstein’s abuses of Hollywood actresses became common knowledge, low-wage women were struggling with the same issues.

Women workers in a variety of industries from farming, janitorial work, domestic and hotel work, and more, have long been sexually victimized by those in power. Their fight for safety in the workplace has not often been the subject of media coverage. But some years ago an investigative journalist began a series of reports on rape and sexual violence against women farm workers and then janitors. Her work has now culminated in a well-timed book.

Bernice Yeung, award winning journalist for Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting. She was a 2015-2016 Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan. She is the author of In a Day’s Work: The Fight To End Sexual Violence Against America’s Most Vulnerable Workers.
