Kill It To Save It: An Autopsy of Capitalism’s Triumph Over Democracy

FEATURING COREY DOLGON – A common refrain at politically progressive gatherings that try to make sense of November’s election is: how did so many millions of Americans vote against their own interests? It seems as though far too many Americans accept policies that destroy the public sector and believe wild claims about trickle-down economics as if benefits for the rich help us all. How did that happen?

Sociology professor Corey Dolgon delves into the history of how capitalism has triumphed over democracy in a new, wide-ranging book called Kill It To Save It.

Corey Dolgon, Professor of Sociology and Director of Community Based Learning at Stonehill College, Easton, MA, author of Kill It To Save It: An Autopsy of Capitalism’s Triumph Over Democracy. He is the past president of the Association for Humanist Sociology and has taught at Harvard and Clark Universities. His earlier books include The End of the Hamptons: Scenes from the Class Struggle in America’s Paradise.
