FEATURING ZAID JILANI – Despite tensions between President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the US has just signed a 10-year Memorandum of Understanding with Israel to gift it billions of dollars worth of military aid. The $38 billion of US tax money promised to Israel over 10 years is a jump from a $30 billion gift over a decade that is now ending.
As part of the aid package, Obama boasts on the White House website that “the multifaceted cooperation between the United States and Israel has reached unprecedented levels.” The aid package will deliver sophisticated and deadly military weaponry to Israel despite its repeated international war crimes in Gaza over the course of several recent wars.
At a time when global outrage over Palestinian human rights violations by Israel is peaking, Obama’s handout to Israel is perplexing.
