Pakistan’s Terrorist Attack Leaves More Than 70 Dead

FEATURING SHAHID MAHMOOD – Just days after 30 people were killed and hundreds injured in the Belgian capital of Brussels, a massive attack rocked the Pakistani city of Lahore. A suicide bombing at a park in Lahore resulted in the deaths of more than 70 people. The Pakistan attack was claimed by a splinter group of the Pakistani Taliban called Jamaat-ur-Ahrar, which has reportedly pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS).

The last time a deadly assault in Pakistan made international news, it was in December 2014 when gunmen entered a school in Peshawar and killed 145 people, most of whom were children. Since that ghastly incident, more than 500 people have been killed across Pakistan in violence that is being characterized as driven by religious fundamentalism.
