Police Killing of Walter Wallace Jr. in Philadelphia Sparks Anger

FEATURING CHENJERAI KUMANYIKA – The city of Philadelphia is reeling from yet another police shooting as mass protests have sprung up in the wake of the videotaped killing of Walter Wallace Jr. The young Black man was gunned down in broad daylight in the middle of the street by officers who were several feet away from him. He was apparently in the middle of a mental health crisis and was waving what appeared to be a knife. Now Gov. Tom Wolf, a week before an election where Pennsylvania plays an outsize role as a swing state, has called in the National Guard to help quell protests.
