Police Removal of Teacher Highlights Poor Pay

Deyshia Hargrave teaches English at a middle school in Vermilion Parish and during the school board meeting questioned why the superintendent was being considered for a massive pay raise while teachers’ salaries remained stagnant.

The dramatic incident highlights the fact that teachers – arguably the most important workers in our society – are paid miserably nationwide.
