There are tears from supporters of the monarchy, and fans of royalty who have eagerly consumed media that humanized the royals. But there are jeers from the subjects of former British colonies and their descendants who see the Queen as a symbol of acquiescence to empire at best, or an active sympathizer of imperial crimes at worst.
