Supreme Court Hears Arguments on Whether Immigrants Have Due Process Rights

FEATURING MICHAEL KAUFMAN – The Supreme Court this week heard arguments in the case of Jennings Vs. Rodriguez on the length of detentions for undocumented immigrants. The case is centered on the practice by the Department of Homeland Security to lock immigrants, even whole families, for years before their court dates. Immigrant detention centers are akin to prisons and indeed many are run by private prison corporations like GEO group and CRA. The ACLU has sued the government over what many see as a cruel and inhumane practice.
