The One Percent Solution: How Corporations Are Remaking America One State at a Time

FEATURING GORDON LAFER – We are living at a time when corporations are dominant over so many aspects of our lives, especially our work lives. Companies like Uber and Lyft are bringing people on as “independent contractors” rather than employees with stable incomes and benefits. So-called “Right to Work” bills, which directly undermine unions, have been passed in states around the country. Efforts to kill bills raising the minimum wage have been coordinated and effective. In fact, in order to see clearly what corporations are doing to preserve their bottom line at our expense we have to see the patterns of their state-by-state approach. Those patterns are exposed in a new book called The One Percent Solution.
