The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row

FEATURING ANTHONY RAY HINTON – Anthony Ray Hinton was only 29 years old when he found himself on death row in Alabama after being convicted of multiple murders and an attempted murder. The problem was that he was innocent. Nearly 30 years later Hinton was finally released after tireless work by lawyers with the Equal Justice Initiative. Now, he has written a book about what he went through called The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row.

In it Hinton explains not just what happened to him and how he endured his decades of wrongful imprisonment, but how the factors of race and poverty within the criminal justice system created a situation akin to lynching. I had the opportunity to meet Anthony Ray Hinton in person during his book tour and we spoke about his experience.
