The True Flag: Theodore Roosevelt, Mark Twain, and the Birth of American Empire

FEATURING STEPHEN KINZER – The Trump administration kicked off its foreign policy with a series of drone strikes over Yemen, the poorest nation in the Gulf Arab region. President Obama had begun US involvement in that war. It seems as though there is substantially not enough difference between Democratic and Republican administrations on foreign policy as many would like. Whether it’s under the rubric of “humanitarian intervention,” or overt coveting for other nations’ natural resources, US foreign policy has been active, destructive, and formidable.

Tracing the debates over American expansionism back to 1898 and the Spanish American war, is a new book by Stephen Kinzer.
