Trump Cancels North Korea Meeting

FEATURING JOHN FEFFER – After days of warning signs that the highly anticipated Singapore summit may not happen, Donald Trump on Thursday morning announced that he was pulling out of his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The President tweeted, “Sadly, I was forced to cancel the Summit Meeting in Singapore with Kim Jong Un,” and posted a formal letter to Mr. Kim that included the inflammatory sentence: “You talk about your nuclear capabilities, but ours are so massive and powerful that I pray to God they will never have to be used.”

This is what President Trump said on Thursday morning to the press.

Mr. Kim and his officials had in recent days taken aim at Mike Pence, with the North Korean vice-foreign minister Choe Son-Hui calling the US Vice President a “political dummy,” and accusing him of making “ignorant and stupid remarks.”
