Welcome to the Revolution: Universalizing Resistance for Social Justice and Democracy in Perilous Times

FEATURING CHARLES DERBER – Donald Trump’s administration began in the shadow of the hugely successful and well-attended Women’s March in January 2017. Millions of people marched in cities around the country including Washington DC, Los Angeles and more. Multiple marches followed focusing on climate change, science, impeachment, taxes and more.

But political resistance has to be about much more than mass mobilizations for one-time events. In the dangerous era that we live in where specific communities are under real threat of bans, deportations, violence, incarceration, and civil rights violations, American society needs to “universalize” our resistance.

Charles Derber, Professor of Sociology at Boston College and the author of 20 books including Bully Nation, Sociopathic Society, The Disinherited Majority, and most recently Welcome to the Revolution: Universalizing Resistance for Social Justice and Democracy in Perilous Times.
