The Michigan billionaire Betsy DeVos stunned senators and the public when she answered questions during her first hearing about public education that suggested she knew little to nothing about the institution. Republicans have so far refused to allow another round of questioning.
DeVos’ background suggests that if the Senate were to confirm her, the stakes for American public education couldn’t be higher.
