What Progressives Miss When They Endorse Tulsi Gabbard

FEATURING THENMOZHI SOUNDARARAJAN – Hawaii Democratic representative Tulsi Gabbard has been named as one of several possible Presidential contenders for 2020. Gabbard is the Samoan American Iraq war veteran, and first Hindu to be elected to the House of Representatives, who made waves when she resigned from her post as Vice Chair of the DNC last year to endorse Sen. Bernie Sanders for President.

But Tulsi Gabbard once gave a forceful argument against same-sex marriage, has flirted with Islamophobia, and is admired by white supremacists like Richard Spencer, David Duke, and Steve Bannon. Some progressives have come to her defense citing her anti-war views.

Who is Tulsi Gabbard and does she really embody progressive values?
