Why An Al Jazeera Film About Israel Lobby Was Suppressed
FEATURING ALI ABUNIMAH – The recent firing by CNN of one of its analysts, Professor Marc Lamont Hill, underscores the chilling of speech critical of Israel. Professor Hill, who teaches Media Studies at Temple University, gave a speech at the United Nations expressing support for the Palestinian freedom movement. He was swiftly fired from CNN. His firing, and the sanctions on countless academics and students who have spoken out for Palestinian rights is an untold story of how powerful and insidious the pro-Israel lobby is in the United States.
A documentary by Al Jazeera Network’s Clayton Swisher about this issue has itself been seemingly suppressed. The four-part series called simply The Lobby, was completed last year but never aired. Electronic Intifada and some other outlets obtained copies of the film and have now made them public. What the film exposes about the covert and sophisticated intelligence network operating to shut down criticism of Israel, will shock the American public.
