FEATURING DR. PAUL SONG - Californians came oh-so-close once more to seeing a single payer healthcare system pass in the state. AB 1400, a bill sponsored by Assembly member Ash Kalra, passed out of committee and was slated for a full vote on January 31st. But, in a body that has a super-majority of Democrats, in a state with a Democratic governor, whose party platform includes support of a single payer system, there were apparently not enough votes to pass the critical bill.
Meanwhile at the federal level, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal of Washington has announced a record-breaking 120 sponsors for her Medicare-for-All bill.
