Why Do Some on the Left Excuse Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine?

While progressive lawmakers like Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, and House Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez voted for the bill, some activists criticized the move.

The left has been split on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, with some compelled to oppose any Western-backed position and others insisting that Ukraine has the right to sovereignty and self-determination.
