FEATURING MATT RENNER – When Joe Biden was running for president he promised he would “Build Back Better” after taking the reins from Trump. On the issue of climate change in particular he promised to listen to the scientists and reduce emissions dramatically in just a few years. But his wavering position on the fracking industry was an indication that the centrist liberal Democrat would likely remain beholden to corporate interests unless forced to do otherwise.
Already Biden has alarmed climate activists with his picks of fossil-fuel friendly Representative Cedric Richmond, former Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, and former Dupont consultant Michael McCabe to key positions on the environment. Young people in organizations like the Sunrise Movement vow to not let him off the hook. Here is one youth demanding he fulfill his climate promises. Climate activists, indigenous leaders, and progressive members of Congress rallied outside the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington D.C. on Thursday demanding that “Biden Be Brave.”
