FEATURING OSPREY ORIELLE LAKE - As the COP 27 UN climate meeting in Sharm El-Shaikh, Egypt, wrapped up, newspapers blared triumphant headlines, saying that finally rich countries agreed to a plan to pay poorer nations for the damage they have caused from disproportionate fossil fuel consumption and carbon emissions. But, the upshot is that the meeting did little to nothing on its main mandate–to actually stave off climate change by phasing out fossil fuels.
