FEATURING AMIT NARANG – At least 17 people have died from a mysterious lung illness related to e-cigarettes, or “vaping.” Government officials are now investigating the flavors that e-cigarette manufacturers have heavily marketed to teenagers as a possible source of the disease. A new study by the Mayo Clinic, examining the lung tissue of patients impacted say that there are chemical burns akin to exposure to chemical weapons or an industrial accident.
But one critical part of this story is why our regulatory system allowed the widespread manufacture, sales, and marketing of devices and products that were not adequately tested?
