Ecuador Faces Critical Run Off Race for President

FEATURING KEVIN KOENIG – Ecuador’s Presidential election results from its February 7th race are finally in and have resulted in Andres Arauz, a socialist economist backed by former President Rafael Correa facing off against a conservative banker Guillermo Lasso in a run-off race in April. Lasso received 19.74% of the vote, very narrowly edging out indigenous leader Yaku Perez who won 19.39 %, in order to head to the run-off. Mr. Arauz won a plurality with 32.72% of the vote. Incumbent President Lenin Moreno’s terms ends on May 24th.
