Guerrilla Media Collective ‘Unicorn Riot’ Breaks Media Boundaries

FEATURING LORENZO SERNA – As we continue our coverage of The People’s Summit, we turn next to Lorenzo Cerna, a member of Unicorn Riot, a media collective with a light-hearted name that has a serious mission: “amplify the voices of people who might otherwise go unheard, and broadcast the stories that might otherwise go untold.”

Unicorn Riot describes itself as, “a volunteer-operated decentralized media collective comprised of multimedia artists and journalists. Born from the Internet in 2015, we operate non-hierarchically, independent of corporate and government funding.”

Members of the collective thrust themselves in the midst of protests and social and political movements, and often capture stories right as they unfold.
