Hate in the Homeland: The New Global Far Right

FEATURING DR. CYNTHIA MILLER-IDRISS – Even though President Donald Trump was resoundingly defeated at the polls on November 3rd, losing the popular vote by many millions, his refusal to concede and his relentless attempts to overturn the election results have generated deep anger among his already triggered base. Most Republicans simply refuse to accept that Joe Biden won the election. The Arizona state GOP suggested Trump supporters be willing to die for their cause, armed threats against election officials are rising, and some far-right figures like Rush Limbaugh are openly discussing secession. The rise of an extremist hate movement emboldened by President Trump and his allies in the Republican Party might be the biggest threat facing the United States today.

Dr. Cynthia Miller-Idriss, Professor of Education and Sociology in the School of Education at American University. Her earlier book was The Extreme Gone Mainstream: Commercialization and Far Right Youth Culture in Germany. Her new book is called Hate in the Homeland: The New Global Far Right.
