FEATURING NETFA FREEMAN – Donald Trump signed an executive order last Friday on US-Cuba policy, attempting to reverse all the progress made under President Obama toward the island nation that had long been considered a pariah by the US. Just as Cuba’s tourism industry was expecting to grow from US visitors, the Trump order places restrictions on travel once again. He also reiterated the long-standing trade embargo on Cuba which Obama never formally lifted.

Trump justified his order saying, “we must ensure that U.S. funds are not channeled to a regime that has failed to meet the most basic requirements of a free and just society.” Cuban officials lashed back calling the move “hostile,” and saying that the US was in no “condition to lecture us.”
