FEATURING ANNE ROLFES – Hurricane Laura slammed into Louisiana just as the Republican National Convention was putting on a showcase about President Trump’s agenda. The Category 4 storm was the most powerful to hit the state in a century and killed at least 6 people. It made landfall at 150 miles per hour in Cameron Parish on Thursday with the Lake Charles area being hardest hit. Some buildings were reduced to rubble and others lost their entire roof.
The most terrifying aspect of the hurricane was that it hit an area studded with oil, gas, and chemical plants and in fact one chemical factory in Lake Charles was destroyed with a large fire potentially releasing toxic chemicals into the air.
