FEATURING SARU JAYARAMAN - GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has offered up an idea for tips to be exempted from taxes. Trump claimed he thought of it after an interaction with a Las Vegas server. Now his opponent Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, says she agrees with him. 

But experts on economic inequality, and activists working to end it say such a policy would do little to help workers relying on tipped wages. Instead, the question arises, what would it take to achieve an economy where tipping is simply not in the equation altogether and everyone is paid a fair wage?
