FEATURING JASON HOWE – Congressional Democrats concluded a day-long sit-in at the House Chamber on Thursday. The purpose of their sit-in was a theatrical push against NRA-influenced Republicans to pass a bill banning people on the “no-fly” list from legally purchasing firearms, as well as expanding background checks on gun buyers.

Many are characterizing the Democratic Party’s actions as a desperate response the dominance of the gun lobby in the wake of the devastating Orlando mass shooting. Others are critical of the racist and arbitrary nature of the “no-fly” list.

What is clear however, is that the NRA and gun proliferation advocates may have a new force to reckon with. Two leading LGBTQ rights organizations, the Human Rights Campaign, and Equality California, have joined the fight against gun violence.
