After months of downplaying the seriousness of the disease, claiming that it would one day just “vanish” like a “miracle,” the deadly virus has proven scientists right in its pervasiveness. But will that matter to an administration that has made it clear it wishes for reelection at all costs, including the predictable deaths of tens of thousands and possibly hundreds of thousands of Americans?
