FEATURING ABDUL NASSER RAD - United States police forces killed a record number of people in 2022. Projects like Mapping Police Violence, which track individuals killed by police, concluded that at least 1,176 people were killed at the hands of police last year. That number is just a preliminary count and likely an underestimate. In comparison, police killed 1,145 people the year before. Police violence is correlated to the race of victims. Black people are nearly 3 times more likely to be killed at the hands of law enforcement than whites.
