FEATURING ZACK NESTEL-PATT - After legendary singer Neil Young forced the audio streaming giant Spotify to remove his music in protest of Joe Rogan’s podcast, several other musicians have joined suit: Joni Mitchell and India Arie among them. The musicians are angry over Spotify’s refusal to hold Rogan accountable for spreading misinformation and disinformation especially related to the COVID-19 pandemic, on his wildly popular podcast.
But musicians have long protested Spotify for putting profits ahead of principles. The Union of Musicians and Allied Workers has been demanding just pay scales from the streaming platform for years.
