New Hulu Series ‘Ramy,’ Explores Muslim Identity

FEATURING STEPHANIE ABRAHAM – At a time when being proudly Muslim in the US is politically hazardous, a new series by the online streaming service Hulu explores Muslim identity in a nuanced and funny way. Named Ramy, for the main character Ramy Hassan, the series will debut on April 19th and centers on a young Muslim American man from New Jersey who struggles to find himself and his faith.

Stand up comedian and actor Ramy Youssef plays the lead in a show that is a fictionalized version of his own life. The New York Times called the series “Quietly Revolutionary,” in how it refutes Hollywood stereotypes of Muslims.
