About a decade ago, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) overruled its own research over the toxicity of so-called “forever chemicals” that are used in hydraulic fracturing (or fracking) operations. The revelation about the “Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances” or PFAS, came from the group Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) via newly obtained documents from the EPA. According to a new PSR report, “oil and gas firms injected PFAS into more than 1,200 wells since 2012.”
