FEATURING MORRIS PEARL – Within just days of one another, the two most influential states in the nation, California, and New York, cut deals to raise their state’s minimum wage to $15 an hour. In New York, this victory was particularly sweet given that fast food workers in New York City had first kicked off the campaign to demand $15 an hour just a few years ago.

Initially workers were laughed at for asking for $15. Then, they were told to wait. And now, in city after city, and state after state, measures are being taken to raise wages. While the minimum wage still does not match the cost of living, and while the increase is far more gradual than it should be, it’s a start.

Among those celebrating the results of workers’ demands, are the Patriotic Millionaires, “a group of 200 high-net-worth Americans who are committed to building a more prosperous, stable, and inclusive nation.”
