FEATURING CHUCK COLLINS – Two years after the police killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri that sparked a rebellion nationwide calling for Black Lives to Matter, a new report has found that when comparing the wealth of black families to white families that it would take hundreds of years for African Americans to catch up. Wealth and income levels are intimately linked to educational and health outcomes.
The report is entitled “The Ever-Growing Gap: Without Change, African American and Latino Families Won’t Match White Wealth For Centuries,” and is a collaboration between CFED, the Racial Wealth Divide Initiative, and the Institute for Policy Studies.
