Special Report From US-Mexico Border

FEATURING ARUN GUPTA – Thousands of asylum seekers, largely from Central American nations, are being held in camps just across the US border in Mexico – a phenomenon that is the direct result of President Donald Trump’s harsh anti-immigrant policies. With little media coverage of the people being affected, the immigration crisis at our border is largely out-of-sight and out-of-mind. Covering this humanitarian catastrophe with direct reporting is our correspondent Arun Gupta who has spent several weeks gathering the stories and images of asylum seekers shut out of the US.

Arun Gupta, is a regular news correspondent for Rising Up With Sonali. He’s an investigative journalist who has written for dozens of publications including the Washington Post, the Guardian, The Nation, Salon, and Raw Story. He is also author of the forthcoming book, “Bacon as a Weapon of Mass Destruction,” and  he is currently reporting from Brownsville, Texas near the border with Mexico.
