A collective trauma, exacerbated by a deadly pandemic and economic collapse, culminating in a violent invasion of the Capitol, has left Americans reeling. White supremacist violence is resurgent after Twitter waited too long to silence its chief proponent, Donald Trump. Four years ago, we spoke with our news correspondent Arun Gupta who had rightly predicted the ethos of ethnic cleansing that was at the heart of the Trump administration.
