FEATURING PAUL SONG – Republicans are facing public outrage over their on-going efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, President Obama’s signature healthcare reform act that they had dubbed “Obamacare.” Despite many failed attempts to repeal the law during Obama’s tenure, the GOP now sees a path to overturning it in the Presidency of Donald Trump.
Millions of Americans who now have health insurance as a result of the ACA could lose that access if the law is overturned with no replacement. But Republicans, who have yet to outline a replacement, have repeatedly assured people they would not lose coverage.
Georgia Representative Tom Price, who has been nominated by Trump to head the Department of Health and Human Services, said during his confirmation that, “nobody’s interested in pulling the rug out from under anybody.” Like his fellow Republicans he did not offer an alternative plan.
