FEATURING ERIN QUINN – The Trump administration has just released a new regulation to curb legal residency for those immigrants who would be eligible to obtain it but who use public assistance including Section 8 housing and food stamps.
The regulation was announced on the website of the Department of Homeland Security claiming it is merely about enforcing an existing law that, “Promotes Self-Sufficiency and Protect American Taxpayers.” Earlier leaked drafts of the proposal had been circulating in the media, provoking fear in immigrants.
Immigrant advocates denounced the regulation calling it an attack on families that encourages a, “pay-to-play system,” and privileges wealthy immigrants.
