Trump’s Pick to Head FDA Is In Bed With Big Pharma

FEATURING MICHAEL CAROME – While much of the media focuses on Donald Trump’s 12-year old tax returns that revealed mostly that he is wealthy and paid an expected tax rate of 25%, Trump’s dismantling of federal agencies continues unabated.

To head the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Trump has picked Scott Gottlieb, a man with very deep connections to the very industry he’s supposed to regulate: Pharmaceuticals.

Gottlieb has served on the boards of various pharmaceutical companies and has received payments from such behemoths as GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer. He is a venture capitalist with New Enterprise Associates and is affiliated with the ultra-conservative, pro-corporate think tank, the American Enterprise Institute which believes that regulations that protect public health stifle the economy.
