Trump’s Refugee Ban Hurts World’s Most Vulnerable

FEATURING NOAH GOTTSCHALK – Donald Trump, in his conversation with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, apparently got into an argument over an Obama-era deal for the US to accept refugees that were being held in detention off the Australian coast. In his typically childish form, Trump tweeted, “Do you believe it? The Obama Administration agreed to take thousands of illegal immigrants from Australia. Why? I will study this dumb deal!”

Of course refugees are not “illegal immigrants.” But Trump’s executive order that amounts to a Muslim ban, stops all refugees from entering the US for 120 days, and indefinitely ban refugees specifically from Syria, who are arguably the most vulnerable refugee population in the world today. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in the wake of Trump signing the Muslim ban, reportedly had to school our esteemed president in a phone call on the details of the Geneva Refugee convention to which the US is a signatory.
