Haitian authorities have arrested Dr. Christian Sanon as one of three suspects in the assassination of President Jovenel Möise. Sanon is one of a handful of Haitian Americans suspected of carrying out a brutal attack that left Möise fatally riddled with bullets and his wife Martine seriously injured. About 2 dozen Colombians have also been arrested in connection to the incident. Sanon was reportedly an informant for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency although the U.S. has denied any involvement. Senate President Claude Joseph has been named interim Prime Minister and requested that the U.S. send troops to assist the nation but so far the Biden administration has demurred, preferring instead to send a team of investigators.
