FEATURING RAHUL MAHAJAN – Massive anti-government protests in Iraq are threatening the stability of the war-torn nation. In Baghdad last week there was a major breach of the so-called Green Zone housing the Iraqi Parliament, when hundreds of protesters broke through. The protests symbolize a breaking down of a government that has been rife from the start by deep divisions.

Meanwhile the US has continued its bombing campaign in Iraq as well as Syria, ostensibly to target the Islamic State that has taken over large parts of the country. But new poll has revealed that found that among young Iraqis it is overwhelmingly the US that they despise.

Rahul Mahajan is a sociologist and news analyst, author of two books on the Iraq war: Full Spectrum Dominance: U.S. Power in Iraq and Beyond and The New Crusade: America’s War on Terrorism, and US Foreign Policy and Empire Correspondent for Rising Up With Sonali
