FEATURING JASON DAVIDSON – The German owned company Bayer AG has been in talks with Monsanto to acquire the controversial corporation worth more than $60 billion. And now, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the US Justice Department has given a green light to the mega-merger after being satisfied that its anti-trust concerns were met. More than a million Americans had expressed their opposition to the DOJ. The US approval comes just weeks after European governments cleared the merger.
Environmental organizations are horrified that these two massive corporations will now be joining forces. A Friends of the Earth spokesperson explained that the Bayer-Monsanto merger, “will massively increase the power of major agrichemical companies that already have a stranglehold on our food system.”
