FEATURING LISA HOLDER - The California Reparations Task Force is readying its final report by July 1st. The task force was established by the state legislature via AB 3121. Its members were appointed by Gov. Gavin Newsom in 2021, and among them was Lisa Holder.
A few months into the task force’s hearings, Holder told YES! Magazine that its goal was to make “evidence-based recommendations” drawn from two years of gathering testimony and documenting the harms arising from “the original systems of oppression, like slavery and Jim Crow segregation, and the continuing and ongoing systems of oppression that we’re seeing in institutional racism and structural racism.”
